The Contact Lens Eye Exam and Fitting
Dr.
Gulibon performs all new fittings at Phoenixville Eye
Care Specialists and is the contact lens specialist for the
practice. A contact lens exam consists of a fit evaluation,
power determination and adjustment, corneal curvature reading
and tear chemistry profile. Often, several types of contact
lenses are tried on the eye before the one with the optimum
fit is chosen. We have over one thousand soft and disposable
contact lenses in stock for Dr. Gulibon to choose from. Gas
permeable contact lenses are custom-ordered based on measurements
taken at the preliminary contact lens exam; the patient is
asked to return to the office upon receipt of the contact
lenses from the lab for the fitting.
Once the fitting is complete, patients
usually return at a separate visit for instruction on the
handling and care of the contacts. At this visit, our skilled
ophthalmic technicians instruct the patient on insertion and
removal of the lenses, proper care and hygiene and a wearing
schedule. The patient usually leaves the office that day wearing
their new contacts!!
