Tecnis Intraocular Lens Implant
The Tecnis Intraocular lens is a premium IOL that
provides the sharpest vision available, similar to a high-definition
TV, compared to a traditional or older-style intraocular lens implant.
This is particularly true for night vision. While
traditional monofocal IOLs provide good distance vision in bright-light
conditions, you may still have difficulties seeing at night or in
other low-light situations.
The Tecnis Lens has been SCIENTIFICALLY shown to provide
better contrast compared to a traditional IOL, which is important
for night driving. The Tecnis lens has an FDA-approved claim that
vision with it is better in a night-driving simulator performance.
The Tecnis is the ONLY lens with an FDA-approved claim for improved
functional, or real-world, vision. The Tecnis works by an advance
in design called aspheric lens technology. By providing better night
vision, your safety and that of others on the road is enhanced.
The Tecnis is suitable for all patients except those that have had
hyperopic LASIK.
Because the Tecnis lens costs a hospital more to stock,
not all surgery centers will offer this lens. Dr. Shechter and the
staff and administration at The Surgery Center at Limerick/CHS Health
System strongly believe that every patient is entitled to the best
vision possible. Thus we are able to offer this lens to all patients
except as above. The lens is covered by most insurance plans with
no extra out-of-pocket charge.
