After Cataract Surgery
After the surgery, you will use eye drops and follow your doctor’s
recommendations. Your vision should begin to improve shortly after
the operation. You will receive glasses for fine vision (and usually
for reading) as soon as the eye has completed its healing process,
about 4 to 5 weeks. With lens implants, many patients see very well
without glasses for distance and do not need them full time.

Dr Shechter examines a patient
after cataract surgery.
For comfort after the operation, you may need to wear sunglasses
in outdoor sunlight. While sleeping, it may be necessary to tape
a shield over your eye for a few days after the operation to avoid
bumping or inadvertently rubbing the eye.
Most people can resume normal activities promptly, avoiding any
strenuous activities that the doctor has indicated. The doctor and
office staff are available to answer your questions after the operation.
